Depending on the type of plastic and depth of the scratch, Meguiar's Plast-X might be a better choice. -

The plastic is soft so be careful. If you have never polished plastic, you may want to practice on a CD case.Al

Try a small spot on the lamp cover to make sure that you won't make it worst.

I use plastic window scratch remover sold for boats... Haven't tried PlastX yet, ironically...2000 Ford Explorer XLT "Deuce"
