    i was thinking of using cleaner wax or swirlx
    no idea if it would hurt it though, the plastic seems really soft

    Depending on the type of plastic and depth of the scratch, Meguiar's Plast-X might be a better choice.

      The plastic is soft so be careful. If you have never polished plastic, you may want to practice on a CD case.

        Try a small spot on the lamp cover to make sure that you won't make it worst.
        I've done it before with good results.

          I use plastic window scratch remover sold for boats... Haven't tried PlastX yet, ironically...
