  • Cloudy/hazy tail lights....how do I fix this?

I recently was tinting a set of tail lights with a friend of mine. He wanted to help out, so I told him to lightly wet sand with 2000 grit to get rid of some of the orange peel. Well unfortunately he grabbed the 800 grit instead and started wet sandiing with that. Now the taped off area looks cloudy and hazy, how do I go about fixing this?

    Thanks!

    That doesn't look good.

If what he passed was 800 grid then I guess you could give it a pass using the 2000 grid.

Get some PlastX and with a terry cloth towel and lots of passion behind it give it as many passes of this as necessary.

First things is that chances are by wetsanding you took the protection that headlights and tail lights have for UV purposes so keep them always waxed because if you don't they will turn brown.

I'm no expert in headlights but can someone confirm if they've seen orange peel in a headlight / tail light because I've never seen this, I thought that this didn't exist.

Good luck with your headlight, maybe next time don't wetsand them, use PlastX and you can put them clear again just using this product leaving it's protective film and not removing it.

This is correct and should get your tail light lenses back to a clear state.

Machine cleaning and polishing starting with a rotary buffer would do the job best and fastest, but using a piece of terry cloth toweling with PlastX and then "you" putting some "passion" behind the cloth and really working that PlastX over the plastic should get your plastic back to clear and glossy.

Might take multiple applications, remember if a little polishing makes it look better then a lot of polishing will usually get you all the way there.

Best of luck to you and update us as to your results.

You Have To Use Meguiars 1000 Grit With Water ,then 2000 Grit, then 3000 Grit And If You Have A High Speed Buffer Buff It With The Yellow Micro Fiber/wool Pad With Solo Compound At 2200 Rpm Do Not Over Heat The Plastic That Should Do It Then Put Plastic X For Protection .if You Dont Have A High Speed Do It By Hand Make Sure You Take Protein For That.good Luck Anything Write Me Back.victor
