  • Engine Dressing?

I was wondering what is best to use or what people suggest in the detailer line to shine up the engine compartment after cleaning it and the proper way to use it?

I've had good results with CD2, it dries to the touch so it doesn't attract any dust after.

I've heard that the Water Based Dressing is good for engines.

I agree. CD-2 is an excellent product. Meguiar's does make a similar engine dressing spray though. It is only sold outside the US for some reason.

CD-2 has been discontinued by Turtle Wax (confirmed by recent conversation with the CD-2 support line). Those who love the stuff may want to stock up now, while it is still on the shelves. With the disappearance of CD-2 that basically leaves Hyper Dressing as the engine dressing of choice.

Perhaps the market for engine dressings is extremely small, but perhaps Meguiar's might want to consider introducing a consumer aerosol engine bay dressing to fill in the hole left by CD-2.

                  Discontinued again?

This is why I stocked up on this stuff as soon as I saw it back on the shelves at Autozone about a year and a half ago when it was replaced by the inferior Black Magic detailer. With this news I'll be going back for even more cans since we can't buy the Meguiar's version here in the US.

I use Hyper Dressing, both 2:1 and 3:1. I apply it after I wash/scrub down the engine bay with APC+, and then after it's set about 30 minutes I go back with a dry cloth and wipe off any excess.

                        Re: Engine Dressing?

Well I decided to contact Turle Wax myself in regards to CD-2 being discountinued or about to be before going to Autozone for a bunch of cans.

Turtle Wax refered me to their Marvel/CD2 product line customer service. Called them and asked directly. I was asked for the stock number off the back of my can of CD-2 which I provided. I was put on short hold while she went and asked a supervisor if CD-2 was in fact discontinued or if there where any plans what so ever to discontinue it in the future.

Once back I was clearly told they have no knowledge of any plans to discontinue CD-2 Engine Detailer and that as of now it is NOT discontinued.

They told me they are still shipping CD-2 to retail stores and you can still buy it directly from their website.

I'm glad to hear that. I got exactly the opposite response from the Marvel support line. I wish they'd get their act together.

Okay, I just got off the phone for the second time with the CD-2 Hot Line. The lady told me that the CD-2 Engine Detailer is not available. Here's the CD-2 phone number: (312) 649-2708. Perhaps others can call and see what answer they get.
