  • Silicone Dressings for Engine Detailing?

Hi, I'm a newbie and I want to know whether I can use silicone dressings used for tires to use in engine bay? What will be the effect? Some said if I choose the wrong drerssing for my engine bay, there will be a fire hazard. Is it true? So, How can I know if the dressing contains any silicone, any solvents?
Can I also use Meguiars' Endurance Tire Gel on Rubber & Plastic Pipes inside engine room? Anyone Tried it? I've heard very good things about Hyper Dressing but it's difficult to get in singapore, so I've to try other things.

    Please Help, Thanks,

I asked this same question not too long ago. Most agree here that you should either use Hyper dressing or #40. Both are water based and safe in the engine. I'm guessing endurance has oils in it, but don't swear me to that. From what I know products that last long on the exterior are usually oil based and can be hazardous to your engine. So this is what I do...

Hyper for the engine and jams.
All seasons for the tires and wheel wells.
    #40 for the interior.

    Hope that helps!

I have used tire shine/foam in engine compartments before w/o any problems. Usually parts stores carry products just for engines. Have you tried looking there? There is CD2 here in the states and in Europe the product is called....NV?
