  • Detailer Silicone Free Dressing for the Engine

    Hey guys,

After reading some tips on here, I was able to get a couple of engine compartments looking hot AND I was able to use my Detailer Silicone Free Dressing that I hadn't found very useful prior.

After cleaning and drying I was spraying down the engine with DSFD and letting it bake on for 10 to 15 mins. I'd follow it with a sponge brush and it looked awesome!

The problem is, after I did this to my personal vehicle, I noticed after the engine got hot, it would make the dressing sweat and run. Therefore not looking so good. Does this happen with the hyper dressing or the all seasons dressing? Or is there a way to prevent this?

Nothing worse than making an engine look better than new to find it later on with dressing sweating off of it.

Anyone? There's got to be a way to get around this. Suggestions please?

I haven't used the silicone free dressing, but haven't had a problem with Water Based Dressing or Hyper Dressing.

Ok I have some hyper. I'll use that next time. I've seen a lot of guys are claiming to use the silicone free for engines. I'm surprised that this hasn't been an issue for anyone else.

We don't recommend using Silicone Free Dressing on engines, especially if you are not in a body shop environment.

Stick to Hyper Dressing, Water Based Dressing if you are using the Detailer line.

If you are using the Mirror Glaze line, M40 tends to be a favorite for engines.

You won't have any issues with these, just make sure and not put them on too heavy....Just a good even coat will do

              How does this sound?

Hyper for the engine, All seasons for tires and wells, and #40 for the inside. I might use up my silicone free on wheel wells til its gone.

              Thanks for your help guys.

I use it all the time for engines, also used Natural Shine for that matte look, depending on mood.

You'll love it. But, like mentioned, be careful what you spray (alternator etc).

We use Hyper-Dressing on the engines. We dilute it and let it soak in after we degrease the engine and before we wash the vehicle. That way excess gets washed out ot the jambs and off the bumper. After we do the interior and before the exterior we take a terry towel or microfiber and wipe down or reaply if neccessary.

I use HD, diluted 3:1 on the engine and it works amazing. I had one "scare" when I started to get some smoking on an F-150 I did, but Tyler told me it would just burn off and he was right (I got a bit to liberal with where I was spraying).
