hey 1st time poster long time reader.

I need some help i want to make under my boonet really shiny but i dont got the [edited for language. Reminder, this is a family forum; thanks, 2hotford] to use a hose etc ive just been cleaning with a clothe lately.

So im going to do it in the cold and cover the alternator and the compuet bos or whatever is it safe to wet the power steering rack since that really needs a hosing off.

Also can i use some wipes meguiars interior wipes on the radiotor hoses coming from the tank the thin dirty ones.

and i will use next gen wax on the paint work under there.

So any tips.

See what type of cleaners you have, I use Simple Green diluted to 4:1 and I spray the whole engine bay down and do some scrubbing with a brush and then rinse off. Meguiars Safe D Greaser, All Purpose Cleaner and Super Degreaser works great diluted to your own preference if you have access to those. I just haven't ordered those yet. Be careful what types of degreasers you use as some can ruin the paint job under the hood as well as your exterior paint job if some were to be sprayed on it.

I have read that those plastic wrap for food bowls to put in your fridge work great on the alternator and computer and what not. Some people may use tin foil or just plastic wrap of somesort. You just don't want to get important electrical stuff wet. Some cars are more sensitive than others when certain things get wet. I personally don't do that, (I have a Dodge Neon and a GMC Yukon) but I try not to spray them directly with the water. I use a mild spray pattern when rinsing off. I use a towel to dry what I can then I spray the engine bay with Natural Shine and proceeded to finish the car (drying, interior and whatever else it needs) and let the Natural Shine soak in. After done with the car I use a towel (my door jamb microfiber towels) to wipe down the engine bay and presto, a nice clean engine bay.

Ok cheers for that im reading the article now its loading.

The other nite i cleaned it a bit more. but the power steering rack really shows the dust.

I cleaned all the plastic bits with meguiars gold class clothes for dash boards etc.

Also do i do it when its warm or cold?

a little warm depending on how severe the "greasy" stuff is, comes off better. NOT HOT as you could crack metal things by spraying cold water on them.

I found the yellow Meguiars spoke brush (looks like a big baby bottle brush) works great as it's soft and can get into small crevices and under wires, hoses etc. and it's soft as not to damage items. If you are able to get one that is.

just an added note, Meguiars All Purpose cleaner and Safe D Greaser are on the Australia website and have read they are great stuff and is concentrated to dilute to your liking with information on the forum on what to dilute it to.

I have no personal experience with it as of yet, but it's on my shopping list for the wifey to get for me.
