  • What do i use

I have a 1998 dodge ram truck that i am currently trying to clean the engine up on. It has normal road grease and grime on it. My question is what type of cleaner should i use and what exactly do i have to cover up to keep water off the electrical connections, etc. I want it to look show quality so i was wandering what you would reccomend for shining the belts and hoses. Thanks

We offer 4 different cleaner/degreasers, if this is you're first time then you should probably stick with D10501 Safe D-Greaser and use it at the higher dilution rates until you gain confidence on the specific application.

As for which components to cover up, usually any electronics or sensors, fresh air intake and air filters. You can cover these with plastic and secure with whatever's handy, zip tie, string, tape, wire etc.).

Do you have a pressure washer?

You also need to cover and protect any painted surfaces like the fenders or keep them continually wet with soapy water to protect them from overspray from the chemicals and contaminants that can spray off the engine during the process.
