  • Suby Outback underhood detailing

Here are the pics from my first underhood detailing. Not quite as scary as I thought. Nothing bad happened (yet) and the car started so I'm good.

I didn't do a great job documenting with pictures. I was kind of in a hurry due to lack of daylight.

I had to remove the intake, battery, and washer jug to do spark plugs and wires. That made it much easier to get in and do a thorough cleaning.

I know I didn't get everything clean, but I will eventually. Maybe a cleaning every 6 months or so?

    I used Safe D-Greaser @ 4:1 and Hyper Dressing @ 10:1. Looks awesome!

looks good and to all of you don't be afraid to clean your engine it sound scary to wet the engine, but if you cover the right parts it shoul be ok.

        Looks great man nice job

Im not scared of washing my engine, im scared of degreasing it. I always think a seal might break loose and have fluids leaking everywhere, or maybe cleaning it will start to cause parts to start corroding............

          Nice work on the Subie.

          What year is your Subaru?
Are the spark wires NGK Power Cables?

            It's a 2001.

I'm not sure about the Power Cables, but they are NGK. After I bought them, I found a place online selling genuine Subaru wires for about $10 less. Wish I would have known that vs. the blue racerboy wires. Oh well.

Since the Hyperdressing is water based, it should be very easy to keep clean from now on. Just a rinse and reapply, no more degreasing and scrubbing.

Now I just have to get my wifes Accord done.....
