    What do I need to cover before a engine detailing? I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier.

    i cover my alternator, fuse box, and air intake and my battery ( i know i dont have to it makes me feel safe)

    some people cover their distributor but i can't even find mine!

      I don't even know if I have one. LOL. I know alot about detailing, brakes, spark plugs and changing the oil.

        The 01' Cavy doesn't have a distributor like older cars do. They have a coil pack on backside of the engine. You should be okay if you don't cover that up. I've cleaned my g/f's old 97' Cavy like that.

          oohhhhh!!! i was wondering why i couldn't find my distributor!! because i have seen pics of what to cover on older cars but not on my own

            What kind of soap should I use on the engine? I noticed at car washes they have a way to clean your engine compartment. Does that work at all.
