  • Clay not taking it off, what now?

I have a lot of of white specs on my black truck. I am not sure where they came from but clay is not taking it off unless I rub hard and cause scratches. I havent been able to keep up on my truck lately so i know thats not helping with trying to take these marks off easy. So is there anything else I can do? I think the only other way would be to rotary with a wool pad as the foam pads arent taking it off. Thanks

You may want to try a decontamination product. Meg's doesn't have one, but various other companies offer three step packages to remove surface contamination .

Sounds like you're between a rock and a hard place...

Can you get them off with your fingernail? If so you might try these things I saw somewhere that look like plastic razor blades.

Nope. Just tried. It feel pretty flush with the surface.

My supplier sells plastic razor blades but that wouldnt do it.

First step is to identify what it is before throwing everythng (and the kitchen sink) at it.

Determine if it is on the surface or below. Use a paint microscope to see it better. Can you feel them? Are there dots on other surfaces like the glass and plastic and rubber trim?

Is it on factory orig. pain tor has it been refinished? Whole truck or part?

I had a similiar problem... I used a clay bar pushing down hard on the clay (had no choice) using very little lubricant. it was practically dry (again no choice) and with some elbow grease they came off.... you can also step up to Meg's Aggressive Clay

Foam pads tend to merely glide over above surface bonded contaminants.

Your description sounds like this is paint overspray, can you confirm? Can you feel them with your hand?

For some things like this, a wool pad will work to abrade or kick off the bonded contaminant, but then you'll have to remove all the swirls the wool pad leaves behind.

Out of curiosity...what's the year, make and model of your truck? Have you actually removed any of these specs?

I just realized how old this thread is. I was asking because I had what sounds like a similar issue with my Isuzu Rodeo...I started getting these specs all over...thought it was white over spray. Got to detailing, clay barred, # 83 numerous times. Took before and after pics and it appeared that some of them were being removed. After closer inspection, it turned out that the base paint is cracking all over the surfaces and my mind was playing tricks on me as none of them were ever removed. Thought maybe you had the same year truck.
