  • New Makita 9227cy Backing Plate ?

Just got my new Makita 9227CY Rotory buffer and was wondering if I can use the supplied hook & loop backing plate or do I need to get the W-64DA 6.5" backing plate from Meguiar's to use the W8006 & W-7006 pads. Thanks for the info.

    Hey,

    Congrats on your new rotary!

You will need to purchase the W-64 (Not the 64DA which is made for the PC and not the rotary) for the W-7006, W-8006 and W-9006 pads. The backing plate that comes with it is fine for the 8" pads.

Thanks Tim. Another Meguiars order, I just got the one from Saturdays Viper Detail Day. To bad I did not order the backing plate then Maybe I should get some 8" pads while I'm at it.

        Hey,

Well, many of us believe that we can obtain a little better finish with the larger pads. However, the large pads are much more difficult to use and definitely are not something you want to learn the rotary with.

I would start with the 6.5" pads and work your way up to the larger pads in time.
