  • How do Mobil Detailers Clean Engines?

A thought occured to me and I thought I would ask ya for Mobil Detailing and performing Engine Detailing. How do you perform it on location where the waste (Grease, Grime) water runs on the persons driveway, lawn or in the street? Maybe this is a stupid question and Mobil Detailers just don't do it or you need to take the car to a Do-It-Yourself Washer where the waste water goes into their drainage system.

Well, not to speak for everyone, but many people dont detail engines for customers. It can be a little risky, and most don't want to explain to a customer why their BMW 7-series isnt running right.

I will only do newer engines that arn't caked in grease.

I have the client sign a release of liabilty waiver.

I then use my water reclaim equipment to collect the run off.

I do mobile detailing but not engines, too messy and risky
        certain things should be covered,wrapped,etc...

I remember doing my first engine detail in the early 90's
it was a early year Chrysler Lebaron or 5th ave
one of the two, anyway after cleaning the whole thing
        the car wouldn't start ( lol ).

being a mechanic as well I quickly figured out the problem
( didn't see it due to the dirt build up )
it had a cracked distributor cap and water had gotten in it,so
I dried off the inner cap+rotor and it started up.
so I told the boss ( used car lot I worked at ) and it was replaced.
        ( no biggie )

so they can be done just make sure to cover certain things
and have something to retrieve a greasy mess.
