  • Photography as a promotional tool

Does anyone here use photography as a tool to promote their detailing work? If anyone has links, books, etc, on automotive photography I'm interested.

I take pics of my clients vehicles and make biz cards to give them.

I like taking pictures of my clients vehicles after each detailing and use the photos to make personalized calendars, reminder cards and email reminders. During the past few years it has become a great marketing tool.

One tip in regard to automotive photography is to try to take your photos from as many different perspectives as possible. For example, I like shots that are taken from almost ground level looking up at the vehicle. Closeup or macro shots also add a good deal of interest. And of course, any time you can capture that fantastic reflection in the finish of a freshly detailed car, that's the best.

I never thought about that, reminder cards are an excellent idea! They'll look at that and remember how clean their car was and then go look at it in the driveway dirty.

I can do printwork if anybody needs it. My friends mom runs a print shop. Send me a PM and I can give you her email.

I do it all in microsoft publisher 2003 and I print them on glossy biz card paper on a $100 color printer.
