A few of my guys (detailers ) want to know how many of you really clay vehicles before you polish ... I guess the real question is do you just buff and polish or clay buff and polish? What is your answer....

Clay, always clay it helps the buffing go a little faster and the paint comes out smoother. I even clay before a regular wash and wax.If you dont play you CANT win! -

well, that is what I meant...lol
Let me clarify a little, I also clay when I do a wash and wax, but I clay after the wash and before the wax...ROFLMAO !!!!

I clay as needed. Usually, my regular customer's vehicles don't need to be clayed too often since I wash them weekly and usually polish/wax every 2-3 months. New customer's vehicles however almost always need to be clayed. Even cars right off the dealer's lot.Owner, Scott's Mobile Auto DetailingComment

Clay before buffing.
They are really two different steps, accomplishing distinctly different goals.
We do it in the (during) wash bay.
