  • delayed pay

i worked on a 2010 Chevrolet today and when i returned it the client informed me that she didn't have the funds at the moment. she was intending to pay me via check but was out of checks.

how would you guys handle this situation? normally it wouldn't bother me as much but i was going to take the girlfriend out today and today's car was going to pay for it.

    Re: delayed pay

I usually don't mind giving customers a extra day or two to pay. Preferably that is arranged before hand though. As long as she intends to pay in a timely manner, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you think she is giving you the run around and isn't going to pay at all, then you've got a problem.

Def an unfortunate situation to be stuck in. It worries me a little that she's telling you she 'ran out' of checks...but I guess it happens!

Thankfully, my clients seem to be bothered if they can't pay me quickly enough, I always stress to them to inspect the work prior to payment, I suppose a good 'problem' to have...

Hopefully your girlfriend understood what heppended to throw a wrench in the plans, and try not to worry too much, maybe your client is pretty embarrassed she had to put you in that situation. (Maybe you'll get a nice tip to make up for it?!) Best wishes...

The customer doesn't get their vehicle back unless they pay. That's one reason I have them bring it to me, then I have control over the car. Hopefully she'll take care of soon. It's simple go to the bank the next day and withdraw the money.

          Re: delayed pay

i was paid today. she did as she said, which was nice and even made another appointment for her other car. she seems very pleased with what was done. as i'm writing this it occurs to me that in my mad rush to get her the car on time (i underestimated the time required. or, i should say, that i was interrupted to pick up my mother.) i forgot to dress the tires. i should call her.
