  • Insurance Question

I'm not sure how many on these forums that this will apply to, but thought I'd ask anyways.

So, I've got my full time mobile detailing business (it's just me btw) and my wife and I have gotten our health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) through her job in the past. Well, we are now expecting our first baby :-) and the plan is for her not to go back to work afterward. This means that we'll need to get insurance independently

I know it will be more expensive, but Ive been researching options and figured I'd ask on here to see if any business owners on here purchases individual insurance or have any experience or tips on ways to go about this. Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you might have. I look forward to a good dialogue on this topic as I couldn't see it discussed much on here in the past.

      Re: Insurance Question

I've had my own health insurance for about 4-5 years now. I have mine on my own but if you can, your better off to do it through a group. A few people I used to work with had it with some small business owners group. Better rates and benefits doing it that way. Wherever you go they get you with a teaser rate then raise your rates. They know how much of a pain it is to switch so they bank on you just paying. I think I started at $89 a month and am up to $333 for just me. Humana and Anthem Blue Cross are two good companies that come to mind.
