  • Always keep spare money......

So, I was working on my car one day for the first time in a while. Business had been blossoming so there wasn;t much to complain about.

All of a sudden, applying some A12 Cleaner/Wax at speed 4 and very light pressure, my 4th G110v2 begins to sputter......oh no......not another cord issue. Checked all the connections and yup, it's back to that same cord connection in the back. I have details scheduled to do this week including an '88 Mustang a guy wants done this week. I don't want to tell him that he has to wait because there are other "detailers" he can go to and he really wants it done this week.

So, it looks like I am going out to AutoZone tomorrow and picking up a Shurhold Polisher for $150........then mail in my G110v2 which I have to pay shipping for....then wait a week for it to be processed and wait another week for the other polisher to be sent out.......so in 2 weeks, the polisher I need by Thursday will be here.....bummer.

Moral of the story.....always have some spare change for that unexpected cost.

I agree - but that's really quite disappointing about your G110v2.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I think it's a good idea to just have 2 DAs.....prices are soo low!
If you detail for $ it just makes sense?

That's your 4th V2?? So you will be getting your 5th?? Is the power cord just not designed well on the Meguiars one or something? Or is it just because you use it very often and that's just normal?

        I'm kind of glad I bought a GG6 lol...

I know the latest models of the G110V2 have "improved" power cords as mentioned on ADS's website..........I look forward to comparing my new GG6 and new G110V2 abilities on my vehicles very soon.

I really hope Meguiars places a "life time warranty" on the G110V2......I am gonna be a Meguiars customer forever

Shawn, any thoughts to taking the G110V2 unit to a local tool repair place and have them install a new cord? Some initial money out of pocket, but probably a better fix in the long run. If or when my G110V2 dies from the cord issue, that is what I will do.

              Re: Always keep spare money......

After having issues with my first couple of G110 v1s I never even bothered buying the v2.

I have been using a PC7424XP for the past two years, not a single problem.

I saw that Shurhold at my local Auto Zone as well, let us know how you like it.

I am actually going to try this tomorrow as Mike Stoops left me a message and told me he did the same thing with his.

I actually went out and bought a PC 7346SP which has the same specs as the 7424XP for $130 at Lowes. If I can repair the cords on the G110v2 I am going to continue using that and keep the PC as my backup.

But, the good thing is that business is good and I have 4 clients to do between the end of this next week and next week. So, I'll make back the money tomorrow actually on an '88 Mustang Convertible.

                  Re: Always keep spare money......

Just so everyone knows: it's pretty common knowledge that we had some cord issues with the G110v2 - in fact, virtually all failures were down to the cord issue. That has been completely resolved. As you also probably know, we were out of stock on the tool for quite some time late last year. That means that all the major online detailing supply retailers ran out, too. They have all been restocked and should now have the latest tools on hand.

We apologize for any issues any of you may have had with these tools in the past.
