  • Another "getting started" thread!

    Hey all,

So I thought I'd like to start grooming/detailing other people's cars at home for a bit of extra money.
I've tried searching but there's too many posts all scrambled everywhere.

Really quick rundown, I want to know what products you use when you are detailing your customers cars (more for car dealers etc).

    Wash - Meguiars Hyper Wash
    Polish/Wax - DZ151

Engine Bay and Wheel Wells - APC and HP or M40
    Wheel - Wheel Brightener
    Tyres - ?
    Windows - Glass cleaner concentrate

    Interior?
How do you "shampoo" the carpets, seats etc?

Quite confused with so many things to use.

    Cheers,
    Nicholas

    What I use
    Wash-hyperwash
    Wax-#6cleaner or malco cherry flash

Wheels-malco non acid wheel cleaner. The megs brightener works well too

Tires- all season dressing/malco blue blazes
    Interior- steam cleaner

Shampooing- I use a mytee extractor with xtrax shampoo

This is only a bit of my arsenal I've got around 40 products I use total.
Even the best cars look like junk when they are not clean

Unfortunately, there are as many answers to this question as there are detailers. Or customers. Or cars. The greater the number of vehicles you work on, the more you need a broad mix of products because you just never know what you're going to be up against. There is no single product that you can use on every car with equal effect.

Agreed, there is so many choices and combinations of products thats it's impossible to give an answer. You really need to do your research and trial some products to asses wheather they are correct for your business plans, before you start charging people for your detailing services.
