what is better all metal polish (m-2805) or NXT Generation all metal polish (G-13005)

  • #2
If the part you are polishing already has a decent finish (i.e. alum wheels), I'd recommend the NXT Metal Polysh (Meg's spelling..not mine). NXT Metal is a polish creme that applies and removes easily. It seems to offer good durability on polished alloy wheels better than other products out there (and I've tried a bunch of them).

You can see some results in the Photo Gallery under my screen name Totoland Mach

    Hope that helps.

If you are going to start on the trailer and the metal is not mirror finish, you might want to start with All Metal Polish and a buffing wheel and use NXT as your last step.

I've been waiting to try NXT metal polysh for a while now. After I got over the sticker shock ($8.00 for a small jar), I brought some home.

Tried it out on the bumpers of my 93 Cadillac Brougham--those are some BIG chrome bumpers. First I washed them with NXT car wash, then QD'd them. I used a foam applicator and started buffing with the Polysh. After a few minutes of hand buffing, I came to the conclusion that the Polysh was not getting off any of the bonded junk and went to the clay bar to get the contaminents off. By the time I finished with the clay the bumpers were shiney and ready for a LSP.

Other chrome polishes I have used in the past have been all inclusive--first step, middle step, last step. If I have to prepare the chrome for an LSP because the NXT polysh has no cleaning ability, I may as well just use plain NXT wax on the chrome and save money.

This is the only Meguiars product that has not been up to my expectations.

I agree, I bought a can of the nxt metal polish yesterday and I was let down by it. The only Meguiar's product I have ever been let down by. I used it on my chrome wheels on the Mark. It didn't seem to blow me away like other polishes have. I don't know if I will get in trouble for saying this but, My favorite metal polish is the blue magic stuff. Just my opinion though.
Nothing but the best, That's why I use Meguiar's.

My personal observation is that NXT Metal Polish is just that: a polish instead of a wax. I don't pretend to know Meguiar's strategy with this product, but having owned and operated a chrome plating business in the early 70's (for custom bike parts until EPA closed us down), Chrome plating is just an ultra thin layer used to protect the Nickel plating (where the brilliance comes from). It can be scratched and marred but I don't believe (IMO) that a polish is going to remove those problems.

I equate the NXT Metal Polysh with Mother's Billet Cream...a very nice product for highly polished aluminum and stainless.

I think this product is great for those "raw" metal applications.

Thanks for allowing me to enter an opinion
