  • ozone generator

How many people have and use a ozone generator with good outcomes. I have seen some pro's and con's about them. The EPA seems to go both ways about them. Here's a link to the EPA's finding on this. http://www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/ozonegen.html

    Any help would be great.

Are you asking about ozone generators for detailing or ozone generators as room air cleaners? There's a huge difference.

The EPA document you referenced is about ozone used to supposedly clean the air around you. The line that stands out to me is:

"If used at concentrations that do not exceed public health standards, ozone applied to indoor air does not effectively remove viruses, bacteria, mold, or other biological pollutants."

Ozone generators for detailing intentionally generate very high concentrations that far exceed public health standards. The critical thing is that you aren't supposed to be in the car with them. You put it in, close it up and walk away. The ozone does its thing and you stay safely outside.

for detailing. I have had a couple cars come my way that had severe odors to them. One from a BQQ grille being left in the car smoldering and left soot all over the car. I don't know if I want to tackle that or not. That is the reason why I'm asking about a ozone generator and do they really work. Not do they work but how well. What kind do you have? How do you use it for how long? How much do you charge for the service.

      always too many questions,

        I have this one:

And I will also mention that I searched around and he offers the best price on this one. There are other smaller models you can get only marginally cheaper that will take a lot longer to do the job. I have to admit that it works amazingly well. First and foremost I like it because it can sort of clean out your air vent systems. You know how all the moisture in there durring the summer causes stuff to start growing in there, thats the funky smell you get when you first start your car. Ozone can get in there and kill this stuff off in high enough concentrations.

And as far as odors it also works really well. I don't want to make a promise that it will get the BBQ grill smell out of that vehicle in particular, but it does work well on cars that have been smoked in, whether it be ciragettes or cigars. The limitation with it is a smell that goes deeper, like a spill that's made it's way down in to carpet or something.

I was skeptical at first, but after using it for a while I'm now a believer.
