  • Winter Prep Package (need input)

    All-

I plan to offer a "Winter Prep Package" option for my customers and I'd like some input on what should be included in such a package. I live in Rhode Island so the snow and ice isn't too far away. My website is here (for your reference).

    All feedback is welcome.

If the roads in your area get salted to prevent icing then there really isn't a whole lot you can do to seriously ward off that sort of exposure. Salt is highly corrosive and will eat through a coat of wax or sealant very quickly. We'd rather see you inform your customers of the need to remove the salt as quickly as possible rather than have them believe they're getting some sort of super protection against it. Understandably it's darn near impossible to wax regularly when it's freezing outside, but the important thing is to get the salt off the car ASAP (if not sooner).

Absolutely agree with you on that. That's a much better way of thinking about it. I certainly do not want to imply that I'm protecting the car from the elements for the "entire winter"

How about the "Winter Recovery Package"... and one for your car, too

If you work through the winter, maybe offer a package of washes at a small discount say 10 for the price of 9 so they can stay on top of removing the salt on a regular basis instead of trying to protect it once for the whole season (which isn't going to happen) or trying to play catch up in the spring. Another option would be to combine one of your exterior details into some basic washes as a maintenance package.

As far as items for a winter prep package, how about taking your premium exterior detail, adding glass treatment like Rain-X, sealing wheels, and the like.
