  • Trying to think of a slogan for my business...

    Hey guys,

Currently in the process of starting up my own detailing business - OBSESSION AUTOMOTIVE DETAILING.

I've self-designed a pretty comprehensive website (I think) which I will post up here once I purchase some webspace.

I'm also designing a business card, and I want to have a slogan on there, but I just can't seem to think of something that sticks!

So I thought I'd get the MOL community to pitch in and voice their opinions!

So far, I've come up with the following options:

"Fall in love with your car all over again!"
    "Let us transform your ride"

But neither one seems to jump out at me as a really 'catchy' slogan?? What do you guys think? I'd almost settled on the first one, but I looked at it again the other day and suddenly it didn't look right anymore??

Any thoughts and suggestions most appreciated!

    Dave

Re: Trying to think of a slogan for my business...

I'd be careful with the slogan and ask yourself if you really need it. You already have a fairly long, descriptive company name. You may want to save the space on your business cards for either white space or keywords.

Some slogans are cheesy, they sort of make a company seem dated (there was an area where everyone seemed to have some sort of slogan). You also want to be careful not to label yourself.

That being said, I would tie the slogan with the word "Detailing" For 2 reasons
1- It helps people remember the name
2- It will help you get up in the Google ranks

eg. let's say someone searches auto detailing
      Google will see this:
      Obsession Automotive Detailing
We obsess over the details (stupid slogan, just an example)

your site becomes more relevant and rises in the ranks.

You can see that Obsession has little value to Google.

Think about what people will search.
Auto Detailing Australia or Auto Detailing Melbourne is most likely.

So a good example would be
      Melbourne's Premium Auto Detailer.

Again these are just examples. I'm trying to point you in the right direction and I'm assuming you want to be found via Google.

      of your two choices
"Fall in love with your car all over again!"
      "Let us transform your ride"

car might be the only thing someone would search and love adds emotional appeal to the slogan. I like this choice better.

Think about what I posted for a while. If what I said makes sense to you and you want to explore this further, I'd be happy to help.

Bill - the 'slogan' is more for just the business card to take up some space, not so much for the website - I'll be using meta tags to help improve my search results..

This is good too...I don't want it to be too cheesy on the business card.

so mine is " above the standard" because most detailers in my area do the minimal work needed, my strategy is to do a lil extra to impress the customer and its about 85% effective.

Re: Trying to think of a slogan for my business...

OK just to mine this thread and to post a bit of an update 14 months down the track...

Ended up deciding not to have a slogan!

Launched the business in the second half of last year as a side-business (still working full-time), and it has been very successful, particularly in 2011!
Detailed a one-off FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) GT-P in the colour Congo Green, which ended up winning an award at the National show it was entered in!
That has certainly been the catalyst for several other customers, who have mentioned that car when booking in their own.

Website is up and running - recently updated it as well - www.obsessiondetailing.com.au
Also have a business Facebook page - www.facebook.com/obsessiondetailing - please feel free to join my page! The more the merrier!!!

Got all the business cards, postcards, DL flyers and other materials as well, so we're nice and organised!

As I'm mainly only available weekends (unless they can leave the car with me for as long as it takes), I'm currently booked out for almost the next 6 weeks in advance, plus there have been a few people whose vehicles I have assessed, but not yet locked in a suitable time for the job yet.

Rapidly getting to the stage where I am considering stepping down from my full-time job to push this business as hard as I can...however I'm hesitating a bit as it's a big step to take, and one where I can't really turn back once I've made that call....so I want everything to be perfect first!

I have several detailing threads I've posted up in other forums that I will eventually post up in MOL as well....I truly love #105 and UC, they are awesome products and have out-performed several other products that I have tested them against.

EDIT - Also detailed a 1972 Ford Gran Torino that was imported from the US to Australia! What a car! Check out the Facebook page for pics!
