Re: Help With RV Wash n' Wax Prices and Method

NON clear coated units have NO paint on them other than the lower portion where the bay doors are. Keep in mind these units will take more work due to the oxidation. Will almost always take a strong cleaner/oxidation remover followed with a second application of a wax/sealant. As long as you use the Meg's Marine/RV products you really don't have to worry about using a "wrong" product that will cause negative results. With the vinyl graphics, I choose to error on the safe side and NEVER wax them. Wax can cause them to dry out and crack/peel. It's best to use a vinyl product like Ultimate Protectant. As to pricing...any way to check other RV detailers prices in your market? I'd say you are in the ballpark but RV prices can really vary from market to market.

Oh NO paint on them, no wonder they oxidize so badly lol.

I'll keep in mind what you said about the graphics. Is there a difference between 'graphics' and 'decals/striping' or is it just the same thing?

It sounds like Ultimate Protectant is some pretty good stuff and I've been thinking about trying some on some very bad trim on my moms car..poor thing. Tried Mothers back to black, turned out ok, just didnt last that long. Was thinkin about using APC+ on the trim to really scrub it clean, and then putting the protectant on after that.

Painted graphics/stripes are not a problem....just the vinyl ones. No, they are not all the same. Older ones tend to be the ones that you should NOT wax over. The newer vinyl in many cases can be waxed. Trouble is...we have almost no way of knowing if the vinyl on the RV we will work on is the type that can be waxed. Hence my policy of not waxing any of them!

Makes sense to me. This guy said he had just had them redone a couple years ago...so i think i was ok with waxing them. I'll be buying some U.P pretty soon so i'll keep it in my container
