  • Help deciding company name

    Hey all -

I'm starting my own detailing business. One of the first steps before I can really get going is to determine my company name. Looking for any input that you're able to provide. I came up with these 4 names over the past couple days - please choose the one you like the best

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

I voted for Matt's Custom Detailing. The reason being that your last name is hard to pronounce, and if it's hard to pronounce, it's going to be hard to remember. And MM reminds me of the candy. So I think Matt's Custom Detailing is best.

Thanks very much. That was a concern of mine, but I wanted to throw it out to you guys to see what you thought.

                  Re: Help deciding company name

I like Matt's the best as well.
You could play off your last name and incorporate the word "magic".

One thing I would suggest is not to get too hung up on a name at the beginning. You will have plenty of business ideas at the beginning and things will evolve as you go. You don't want to pigeon hole yourself.

                  Who is your target market?
Do you plan on specializing in anything?
Will you be a mobile service or will you have a shop?
Where will that shop be located city, street? The location may come into play when picking a name. eg. L.A. Ink., OCC.

One other suggestion, visit GoDaddy.com and check if the domain name is taken. For example... www.mattsdetailing.com is already taken, but www.mattscustomdetailing.com is still available. Look at the alternate suggestions. This may help you decide.

                  Good luck Matt

                      Thanks for the input everyone.

                      Bill -

I don't have a specific target market. I would say the majority of my customers will be daily drivers, but I am comfortable doing any type of car.

My plan is to have a mobile detailing service: you provide the hose / electrical outlet, I bring everything else to you. You sit in your home comfortably while I detail your car in your driveway.

I thought about playing with the "magic" in my last name, but I want my business to be a simple, serious name. Sometimes the "play on words" names get old for me.

I agree. Keep the cheese to a minimum. Especially if it's not in your character.

Good luck setting up the business.

I voted for Matt's custom detailing. I assume your Hispanic (So am I). Are there very many Hispanics in your area. Your potential customers might have a hard time pronouncing your last name.

                            Good Luck with yor bussiness.

Matt's is good but I would change the word "custom" to something else. I would choose a word that means better. What does custom mean to you? You do what they want or it is personalized for them?
