    Re: My 'packages'

i couldnt tell you much on the pricing as i dont do this as a business..but i can honestly say, for the price your charging, and the detail you claim to put into the car, and the quality products your using, id let you detail my car any day!

and by the way, i really like your table of information. it really gives the customer a great amount of detailed information on what "exactly" your going to do. deffinitly a big plus for business !

Sometimes it can be bets to leave interior things to their own package/s.

You should have some combo packages. But it seems you left yourself wide open for a nasty interior that would require a lot of work. Then you would actually be losing money on the detail. due to the amount of hours invested on the interior.

          Looks good to me!

Only thing I would do is this: Offer people a choice of what they want on their interior plastics and tires. Meaning, some people don't want any sort of gloss on their tires or interior plastics. For them, you might offer Natural Shine on interior plastics (or even QID), and perhaps Hyper Dressing diluted to the desired level on the tires. That way everybody gets what they want.

            Re: My 'packages'

I'll have to either seperate the interior work into it's own pacakge, or just increase my prices I guess. I hate the idea of washing a car without doing anything to the interior, but I can see how a trashed interior would eat away at my time and profit.

Also, keep in mind I'm not mobile (yet).. so I'll have customers bringing their cars to my house. If I were mobile I would increase pricing accordingly.

              Re: My 'packages'

Maybe I should increase the price by like $20 per package, if you all think my prices are too low?

              Daily Driver - $100
              Saturday Night Special - $140
              Luxury Suite - $200
              All Inclusive - $260

And even though engine compartment cleaning comes with the All Inclusive, I could have it as an add on for the other packages for like $35. Also, headlight restoration would likely be $50 ($25 per headlight). Is that too much to charge if I'm just using the consumer headlight restoration kit (no sanding)?

              Any other tips/advice/comments/criticism??

Maybe you could call around to other detailer's in your area to get a feel for what they are charging. But in general the $20.00 extra per package does not seem out of line to me.

I need to do that.. I feel funny calling and asking them their prices. Do I reveal I am the competition or do I pretend to be a customer?

Go the customer route. If you tell them your competition, they might state prices that are artificially adjusted one way or the other.

Like just a wash, dry, tire coating, and nothing on the interior?

Yeah, a lot of people just like a clean car with the door jambs wiped out and the tire dressed.

Your list looks pretty good to me too Leland. As with anything new, it will likely need tweaking to compensate for things you find along the way. The first thing I changed on my list was for the size of the vehicle. I felt it necessary to list that I was charging the Yukon customer more than the S2000 customer. The temptation to cover every option is always there, but try to keep it as simple as you can. Where all of the detailers here will read a price list and understand what you're offering, a customer with no clue of what they want, other than a clean car, will struggle with too many options.
