    If the owner is paying you to clay their car in your detail package than yes. Only do what the owner asks to have done. You can talk them into claying before waxing as the wax will bond to the clear coat easier.

        See if they would be interested in you showing them a small test area so they can feel the difference of the clayed and unclayed area. Only ask once though. If they agree, and you do a small area show them what the clay pulled off there surface.

        And as your doing/showing the test area talk to them about how it's better to properly prep the surface so the protection last longer. If you just wash and then wax, all your doing is locking and sealing the contaminants to the surface. And that this consists of a build-up of road grime-stains thats embedded in the pores of your paint and oxidation so why apply a wax over this.

        Try to do a clay and then apply some colorX. ColorX is a AIO (all in one-it cleans/polishes/protects) it's great on neglected finishes or finishes thats in pretty good shape. On a neglected finish apply more then you normally do/would (apply the product pretty wet) and work it in.

        Remember don't talk to them like a salesman, don't talk down or make them fell stupid, talk to them like a family member or a neighbor. Get there trust and never lie to them and maybe they will become a great customer that also helps get you more details.

          Would you put wax over ColorX? I've never used that product and haven't really looked into it.

            Yeah you can top colorX with any wax if you want as well as topping A12 cleaner/wax with another wax.

            Get you a bottle of colorX,you be glad you did! it's a great product to use and keep around.

            It's got me out of a jam once.
