  • Detailing Black Honda crv

Ok next Sat. I'm detailing a Black Honda crv
First the the black moldings on the door seem to look like buffer burns on it about a inch apart, looks like the last time they had it done whoever was buffing the paint didn't take the time to tape the molding is there anything I can use to clean it up, like a trim cleaner or ??????

next I've been doing on other cars

    DACP-- Speed Glaze- 26
the car looks preety good can I get good reselts using just

    66-26- then last NXT

    Thanks Larry

    m2mazda6,

What do you mean by 32?

I am not sure which product you are talking about here.

If the finish looks to be in good shape with only minor swirling than you probably don't need DACP.

Meguiar's Philosophy is: "Always use the least aggressive product to get the job done"

Going by this, I would try either #80 or #66 and see how you like the results.

While Meguiar's does not recommend topping their waxes, some enthusiats like to top NXT wax with a carnuaba wax. That being said, if you would like to use both NXT and #26 you would probably like to use NXT first followed by #26. I have used both waxes and love both.

        I have not used #66 so I cannot comment on the results from that product. #66 is a one-step cleaner/wax. #80 is a cleaner/polish.

If you are still unsure about what to use, try a test spot and see which you like better.

        Hope this helps!

          Hey,

Buffer burns on trim are a real problem. Sadly, they are usually permenant. Sorry! A trim dressing like #38 Tire & Trim Dressing Gel may help to soften the look. But it will not remove them.

Both Meguiar's #66 Quick Detailer and #80 Speed Glaze are excellent products!! Meg's #66 is a fairly aggressive cleaner/wax which I prefer to use with a rotary buffer. It will leave a deep, wet looking finish. Meg's #80 Speed Glaze is a cleaner/polish/with a paintable polymer. I have found it to be a little less aggressive than #66, and does tend to break down a little faster.

Either one will be great on a paint that is in decent condition. I have used #66 on some pretty rough paint and was very surprised just how well it worked!!

Sorry to say, but there isn't really any way to repair the trim once it's been burned or marred. I've seen this before to on cars and the problem is the plastic was heated and usually disformed. Like Tim said, you might be able to improve it a little with a dressing.

Idetailed the crv turned out VERY good if I say so myself and the customer, my neibor was very pleased with it. After I washed it and looked more closely it had a lot of swirls so I tried just the 66 it didn't take it all out so I DACP it then 66 then 26 turned out nice I used the PC I have a buffer but haven't used it much yet and didn't want to with a black car
The burn marks on the trim seemed to come out a bit after a GOOD cleaning the marks were still their then put a good dreesing on it (sorry not M. ) you couldn't see it, see what it looks like in a week or so, but the guy said it looks a lot better than before
