  • Well here the journey begins....

I work at the golf course making $6.55 an hour. That stinks. And well Ive picked up quite well on detailing. Not saying i know anywhere CLOSE to "it all". But as things go Ive done 6 cars so far and made my fair share of cash. Business right now is well, pouring in. And thats real nice as word gets out of a quality CHEAP detailing job. I mean cheap. I started charging $100 a car and have moved up to $125 for a FULL detail. Yeah its not too much profit but its making me money regardless. Heres a few previews of what Ive done so far...

Anyways just thought Id post the so far success and ask for any advice you have to offer! Thanks!

Good God! For that kind of work, you need to charge no less than $200...possible more, but I know you have to make a name for yourself first.

          Was this done by machine?

If you're using Fire Fox, you can triple click on the URL, then right click, and choose Google search. Course, you then have to click on the search results after the new tab opens up, but it saves you from having to do a "copy & paste".

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Obviously, you've had some sort of education / training about detailing cars, and it shows.

I cannot help but notice that most of your clients are teenagers... (at least they look like teenagers to me).

This group of people are particularly more willing to lavish on their cars than people of older age groups. Good marketing skills

I disagree, I know many more businessmen and classic car owners who are older, have the funds to afford high-end detailing and are more willing to pay prices that most teenagers will not. Most teenagers have a tight budget and would rather do a half-*** job than truly perfect their paint surface.

You need to charge the amount of money you want to make. Admittedly I didn't look at the pictures, but if your work is of high quality you can easily charge more than you are. Like I said in another thread, factor in the money you spend on products, time/labor you spend actually detailing the car and the fact that customers are paying for your skill, expertise and experience.

Thanks so much! I picked up a little bit of basics from my dad but the rest taught myself as far as paint correction goes.

Thanks, almost all of my details have been brought in by teenagers so yes, it pays off. My buddies tell theirs and so on. Good chain.

Wise comment, but the deal is I can do the jobs, get paid decent, have many lined up, and not worry about having a 100% accurate result. Not that they arent just theres not AS much pressure as with old men and their ferraris

                      Thanks Guys!
