  • Looking to start Detailing this year

Hey guys, im currently working on a list of products for my arsenal so i figured this would be a good time to ask about what exactly it takes to start a side detailing business and possibly more mainstream business from around Dec 1 to April 1 as ill be laid off from my FT job then. So here we go.

Since this will be mainly starting with family/friends and people i know, should i look into insurance and/or licensing right away or wait until i get more into it.

How should i figure pricing, obviously ill want to figure out myself, what id like to work for per hour but how should/would i go about figuring how/what to charge for the products i use on the vehicle.

Are websites a good thing? Ill obviously have business cards made and aside from business cards and possibly a website, how else should i go about advertisement...commercials? radio spots? vinyl/magnetic sign on vehicle? Hand outs/fliers @ gas stations, bulletin boards, etc.

Cant think of much else right off hand. If there is anything important or something you think i should know PLEASE let me know in a reply to this.

Anyway guys, let me know with what i have listed above and we will go from there.

As far as pricing, I think many people kind of have base prices for different packages (wash/cleaner wax, or wash, clay cleanerwax, interior, etc), then charge by the hour for people who want proper correction, show car results, etc.

    Website, absolutely.

Have enough cards to give more to your customers/friends/family to pass on.
