Headlight Restoration pricing?

I have a friend of mine from work (my daily job) that want's me to do headlight restoration on his Audi, by using Meguiar's new 2009 product "Headlight and Clear Plastic Restoration Kit", and if he's pleased probably few of his close relatives may ask me to do the same thing for them.

I just got it on thursday from Rick's ADS, and all I have to do is figure out standalone price just for doing headlight restoration.


What do you guys charge for it by using same exact product?

Note: keep in mind that I already searched this forum about previous questions about pricing for headlight restoration but it wasn't enough for me, I'd like to see more poeple chime in

Yup....I'm just under that at $35 each or $70 for both. Remember it's an involved process with taping, several passes (depending upon kit purchased), wipedowns, etc. Some guys will wetsand several times with progressively less abrasive paper and then buff/protect. All depends how damaged and oxidized the lenses are. Quoting a "bargain" price can be a losing proposition in a lot of cases timewise...

$40 for both if you do not need to wet sand, $75 if you need to wet sand

$40 is cheap but fair if your not Mobile, that's what WalMart charges

I would charge at least $50 if they come to you
and at least $75 for a Mobile job
And that would be minimal price
If you have to sand them then your going to add on allot more time

Around this area it is hard to get people to pay the prices I would like to charge

That's what I thought.


I'd like to see more people put up their prices on headlight restoration while using Meguiar's new product Headlight Restoration Kit, especially folks from east coast.

Well, that's true, different cities, smaller or bigger charge differently. For now I started charging $30-$45 for both headlights and again depending how bad they are. Also all customers bring their cars to me...

I spent an hour on my latest.
I sanded and polished.
I could get it down to 30-45 mins if I hurried.

I charge $40 for both headlights, that includes the wetsanding and I do not charge extra for being mobile. I know it's not much, however you have to start somewhere, and especially since I do it part-time, then I am OK with charging those prices for now.
