So I think this thread would be highly popular if we could fill it with different ways of gaining customers and interest for our businesses. Mention a tactic and give it a name and I'll post in in the first post.
Here are some of mine.
Executive Free Detail
Go to a high profit company such as a lawfirm, engineering firm, stock firm, or a doctor's office. Attempt to convince the person in charge of letting you detail their vehicle for free. Give them business cards to distribute amongst their employees. The point of this is to get your name circulating in a high income circle.
Door to Door
Find the nicest neighbourhood you can and go door to door with a strategy. Be polite, shake hands, and big smiles. Carry some basic supplies with you just to show the people what you can do. I've gotten 2 details on the spot just because I took out some scratches with M105 and ScratchX and a foam applicator spot. Demonstration is the key.
