wow nick I wish I had a perfect set up garage like yours...all i can do now is out of my garage at home and out of the trunk of my Cabrio! (meaning trunk plus back seat....sooo small)

Ninja Edit: I see that you are in California. You're correct about the water reclaimation system there, it's a must. But the original poster is in Tn. I seriously doubt that they have anywhere near the strick water laws as Cali

Do you have any suggestions about where to buy? I like one of the series that Lowes has, but they just look so cheap. I hate buying things that I know are going to break within a year.

Lowes is where I got mine. Home Depot has some that are about the same. The ones I got have oak doors and they are really pretty sturdy. You could always add a couple of 2x4's under the bottom to support that a little more. And if you have have more than one in a run which you probably will, you can screw them together at the top & bottom, and that makes them a lot sturdier. I can explain how to do that better if you need me to. I can give suggestions on how to install but that should probably be done by e-mail. We have already hi-jacked this thread enough.

I see what you're talking about, but at least a few cabinets would keep microfibers from getting as dusty, and you could store some of the other products (not 5 gallon) in there. That would also give you a counter top to work on. Even if it is just one 8 ft run.

Good suggestion! I'll look into getting some, and see what I can come up with.

Yeah I thought about those, but I need something a bit stronger. I store a lot of 5 gallon containers of products, and a lot of 1 gallon containers. This would be entirely too much wieght for a pre fabbed unit.

There are more 5 gallon containers now, and a lot more 1 gallon containers. Well, actually a LOT more product now then there are in this picture. But just to give you an idea...

Man, if you're serious I am all in!

I am in the middle of remodeling my bathroom right now so that will take a few weeks unless I get called back to work, then it will take alot longer. In my shop, I have base cabinets that I bought from Lowes and a laminate counter top. The reason I went that route was it was quicker, I was building my kitchen cabinets at the time & they were about as cheap to buy already assembled as the material would have been for me to buy my own. They have different widths so you can make any length run you want. You can drawer units, door units, or doors w/drawer above. The laminate top cleans up real easy also. If you go this route make sure the counter top will cover the cabinet run. They also have wall units to match the base units. I can also give you tips on installing them if needed. I wish I could come down & help, but I don't see it happening right now. If you want to see pictures of the cabinets in my shop let me know & I can sent some to you..

I will keep that in mind. My son lives in Cypress (NW Houston), I could build cabinets for you, go see him & my grandsons, & have you show me how to detail. Maybe what I should do is come down take measurements and draw up the cabinets, come home cut everything load up the pick-up, bring it down, assembly them, & hang them. Now if I can just get the wife to agree to all of this.

I need these cabinets so bad it's not even funny anymore! I've been using these prefabbed shelving units from Lowes, and they look horrible, and do not give me the counter space I need. I am willing to pay and help you with anything you want to learn if you're serious.

Warning though, before you commit....I need a lot of cabinets But on the bright side, they would be very simple. Just a run of upper cabinets on the wall, and a run of lower cabinets with a counter. I could draw up, and give you all the measurments that you need.

I agree with Nick, buy things as you go along. I am only into detailing as a way to keep my vehicles looking nice, but I am into woodworking big time. It has taken me 30+ years but I have a pretty well equipped wood shop & can build about anything I want. What I have found is, if there is a tool or something that you "THINK" you would use but are not sure, if you can find cheap one at Sears or Harbor Freight, buy it and use it till it wears out or breaks. If you use it a lot, then when you replace it, replace it with a name brand product. If you don't use it that much then you are only out a fraction of the cost of the name brand. Just remember, big companies did not get big over night. Just my 2 cents.
