  • College Side Job/Business

This is mainly for all the "at-home detailers". How much do you think I could earn doing a basic details part-time during the summer? Anyone else in a situation where they mainly do it for extra cash, but it's really like a part-time job?

I'm not worried about doing this for a living and I don't need the cash. Right now I work full-time and go to college full-time. I am a former Marine, so I get the GI Bill while I'm in school...which next year I will be living off completely. I am only working now to pay off all my debt, cars and save some extra cash...and buy a big screen LCD!! I plan on getting a part-time job for extra cash next semester, but I'd honestly would rather just detail cars on the side.

    TIA

Depending on the type of referrals you can manage, and the type of skills and work you are looking to perform, maybe a couple hundred a day.

Realistically, with limited supplies and using it as more of a "side job" it will be a couple hundred every week or two.

How extensive is your existing collection of supplies?

    Tools?

    Skills?

          Offtrack just a little,

If you think there's ever a chance you might stick with detailing cars as a hobby over any length of time then try to pick a name that will also work for a domain name in-case you ever want to put a website up for it.

Also, consider branding either your name or your business name instead of a non-related nickname on forums.

Documenting some of your more special detail work on a forum like this by create a dedicated thread or "Write-up" can help you to gain credibility in the eyes of your customers as it will show them what you can do.

Of course this means stopping the work on the car and taking a few photos throughout the process and the later typing up the write-up and adding the pictures.

Just some things to think about...
