  • I think I may have my first customer!

Well everyone I think I have my first customer lined up. A guy I work with is going to have his car done at the end of September. He is pretty reliable so I think it is a done deal. Car is a 2002 Bonneville SSEI. Car is black with chrome wheels and black leather interior. It has light scratches all over the trunk and scuffs on the doors. It is also covered in swirls and bonded contaminents. He wants to go all out and I told him since he is my first full customer and a co-worker I will hook him up.

    The plan includes.
    - Full wash
    - Clay Bar with Last Touch
    - Scrub and dress tires
    - Clean wheels
    - Polish headlights and taillights
    - Polish windows
    - #80 or #83 depending on paint
    - #7
    - NXT 2.0

Here is a picture of the car. (One just like not actually his.)

Congradulations on the job. A suggestion.....use regular QD (or last touch) vs UQD when you clay. UQD just isn't made for that job. Have an enjoyable time and if your client does too then all will be great.

Oh ok, thanks for the advice! I will pick up some Last Touch before then.

Congrats on the first of what I hope is many jobs. If you go with the last touch as your clay lube, make sure its diluted 1:1.
Or you can use regular qd as is for the lube. UQD is not made for clay lube.

Good luck and take some pics to share with us.

Thanks again for the help. Can I ask out of curiosity why it is not suitable for a clay lubricant?

To be honest, that didn't answer the question at all. Maybe I missed something but all I caught in there was the same info about UQD not being able to be used as a lubricant. I do appreciate the effort though. So help me out guys, what makes UQD unable to be used for claying?

UQD leaves stuff behind on the paint, while QD or LT does not. They just help lubricate/safely wipe paint.

And besides all of that, you'll love using Last Touch on the paint for claying because it's $20 per gallon. Diluted 1:1, that means you're paying $10/GALLON of LT as opposed to $10/22 oz of UQD. 1 gallon = 128 oz so that means that you would be paying $116 for the same amount of UQD. That's almost 6 times as much money. Plus LT is awesome and it smells great anyway.

Makes the surface to slippery for the clay to work effectively especially compared to other less costly options.

I think if you do the wheels and finish them first would be better then wash the car and move on your steps. Good luck
