  • Back in business.

hey guys, i know i havent been here for a long time, ive been to busy lately with getting involved in a different state. i moved to South carolina for school, and now i have a part time detailing job with a local speed shop.
i also do another detailing job with a local carwash as my daily job. the manager knows i have another job, and as long as i dont give out business cards he doesnt care.

i have stepped up into the big time for a 20 year old.

I am the detailer for RS speed labs in Conway SC as an "on call" job
I have been detailing some pretty sick whips recently.
on my list of jobs are the following cars:

    08 corvette Z06
    Multiple Nissan 350Z
    2009 Mercedes SL550 (silver arrow edition #7 of 550)
    2007 Maserati Quattroporte GT
1989 Jag XJS v12 (blue hard top, and red convertible)
    2007 Aston Martin DB9
the RS speed labs Mustang GT

i have a couple of pictures from my camera phone i will try and post up.
i love south carolina cars. hating the economy though.

i have been charging 60 dollars per car for the following work.
hand wash and dry (00 and chamois)
    Clay OR cleaner wax
    Swirl remover 2.0 if needed
    #26 or NXT 2.0
wipe down and vacuum interior and clean windows.

i know it doesnt seem like much to charge for what i do, but with a low overhead its making decent money from the 8-10 cars weekly.

i pay RS 12 dollars a month to use their water, and electricity.

i also have about 9 cars to detail when i go home for vacation on may 24th, so my little hobby is finally sprouting into a business.
i have been giving out business cards to everybody i meet, and i have reciepts for orders as well as the business of RS speed labs doing scheduling for me. its working well. i get to detail cars, get paid well enough, and people feel safe because they are leaving their cars with a business rather than a 20 yr old kid.

sorry for the rant. ill get some pics up here ASAP. i have a couple

also. i have customers which have entrusted me with picking up and dropping off their vehicles within 20 miles of my "base" scary, but they sign a waivor and it all works out.

Sounds like you're staving busy and your growing your reputation as a professional detailer, you need to try to bring your prices up if and when you can. That's hard to do with established customers but you can start with a higher price for new customers.

Do you have DA Polisher or any machine polisher?

Also, when inserting pictures, add your text and then hit the enter key at least once before inserting a picture and this will force it under your text.

                thanks for the tips!

right now im working on getting money saved to buy a good polisher. i have been using a 10" buffer from advance auto parts for my heavy work. its nothing amazing, and i would love toget a porter cable but its not in the bills at this time. if i have anything terrible, i will usually direct them to my other work, and have them get it detailed when i can use their Porter cable. costs a little more, but for some cars its well worth it.
