Re: How Much Would You Charge?

The truth is, you are worth whatever your customer is willing to pay. To charge more, you should have a reputation that proceeds you and deliever quality work. This way you build value.

I charge between 65-110 dollars a wash. I have two full days (8 washes per day), and have a waiting list to get on the schedule (16 slots per week is all I have time for).

For machine polishing, we have two packages. One is a one step with minor correction with a full detail, which is priced on an hourly rate of 75/hr. Most jobs required 4-7 "man hours".

Are other opition is perfection, which can take a 10-30 man hours to polish every square inch to perfection, including prep time and the actual detail itself.

      Well said....

We all must remember, when a client pays more, they have higher expectations....as long as you can exceed those expectations, everyone is a winner...

We have seen too many times people charge more and then deliver the same lower quality of work...

Unfortunately, that is a recipe for disaster...

Always, always, always...... under promise AND over deliver. If you exceed the client's expectations there is no way they can be anything but pleased.

Well said Mike and MIO! I could not agree more!

Your work will bring the customers. But keep in mind, the region for which you live will also dictate at least in part what the market will bear for pricing. However, quality work will bring people who will appreciate it and will be willing to pay for your work. Therefore, keep the quality of your work higher than anybody else, and you will have happy customers. The one thing I will never do is play the pricing game. I have my price and that is it.

WOW what do you do in the wash? Is it just a regular wash or is there more to it? What is it you do to have so much demand for your service? It is really amazing how much the amount people charge varies

Re: How Much Would You Charge?

                  Sean,

The price you charge should not be based on how much someone else would charge to do a similar job. It is okay to know what others would charge, but it is never a good idea to base your price on that fact alone.

In order to cover expenses and stay in business you should consider pricing your detailing services somewhere between what you want to make and what you actually need to make so that you can make a reasonable profit and continue to stay in business.

                  You will need to do a little marketing homework so that you can begin to figure out your own pricing. Here are a few basic questions that you will need to think about;
                  1, Who is the customer?
                  2, Where is the customer?
3, What does the customer value?
4, What are the realities of the customer?
5, How much is the customer willing to pay?

Once you establish your pricing you should really consider following Tim's (2hotford) advice by not playing the pricing game. Set your prices and then deliver the highest quality work. It is that easy.

Re: How Much Would You Charge?

I recently did the interior and washed an Escalade. The inside was so filthy I could't belive it. There was candy, bubble gum, coffee, and juice stains evey where. Itook everything out seats and the console. I shampoed the carpet conditioned all of the seats and dressed all of the plastic. Iwas just wondering what someone charge for this.

Re: How Much Would You Charge?

I've varied my price based on what I feel I need to get. I do not charge top dollar as I call it practicing. I know I can get more, but most of my clientel is family or good friends so I try not to gouge.

W/O any paint correction and Minor interior detail (no major defects or stain removal)

                          I generally charge 130-150$.

                          That includes

                          Wash
                          Clay (if needed)
                          Re-Wash
                          Dry (including wheels)

                          Glaze (M07 Show Car)
                          Wax/Sealant (NXT 2.0)
Carnuba Wax Layer (M26 Hi tech Yellow)
Booster/Final Wipe down (Meg's Ult Quick Wax)

                          Windows

Rims/Tires (Wheel Brightener, Rinse, Dry, Hyper Dressing, and includes wheel wells)

**Some cars I have done a quick detail of the engine bay too.

The biggest thing is I will say to the client, "What you pay is not always what the other guy pays and it's based on what I feel that I need and I put the time in."

I have not had an objection yet to the results.

With paint correction thats a whole other kettle of fish.

The main point is it's easier to over quote and knock it down then it is to bump up.

For daily drivers, you should use something with cleaning ability before the M07 step, such as M66 or M20. Or even a one step polish with M205.
