  • How much to clay at once

Ok, so do you clay the whole car at once, or clay once section, then polish / wax, etc that section then move onto the next section?

Clay the whole car, then move on to the next step(s). But by "clay the whole car" I mean to work a 2' x 2' section with the clay, wipe off the excess Quik Detail spray, and move onto the next 2' x 2' section, repeating this until you've finished the whole car.

You might also want to try and be flexible. By that, I mean if you are in a very dusty area, maybe you do want to work one panel at a time (clay/clean/wax, etc). I've also been known to not bother drying the car, claying while wet (with lube also), then rinse and dry the car after. But then my car is pretty good usualy, and we have no water restrictions....

It depends on where your doing it at. If it's in the sun, do one section at a time. Lubricate surface, thorough clay and keep surface wet, wipe, and move on to next area.
But if you have access to a garage, you can do the whole car at once.
        This is my process.
        1) thoroughly wash the car. twice if have to. degreasing the lower area's might be helpful as well.
        2) immediately pull the car into the garage while it's soaking wet. water beads up like crazy on my car so there's lots of water on there to go around.
        3) prepare a fresh bucket of soapy water and knead clay
        4) add lubrication as needed w/ the soapy water and do the entire car in one shot.
        5) pull car back outside and do a quick rewash to remove any residue
        6) pull it in the garage again and dry completely

Sounds like a lot, but it saves a lot of time doing it like that IMO, plus you don't have to waste all your quik detailer.
