  • Trying to come up with Fliers. Need Help?

Hi guys! I have been detailing on the side for friends and relatives in my garage for the past 6 months now (Exterior only) and I was thinking of taking it a notch higher and doing it for anyone who wants to have their cars detailed ( By Appointment). I was thinking of coming up with fliers (with before and after pictures of cars I have detailed in the past) but don't know how to start it I wanted something that would explain the process I will be doing like Compound (if needed), Polish and Wax and how long it takes to do it and why they need to have it done. I want to explain everything because people here are not really familiar with the process and detailing for that matter they think its just as easy as washing the car and waxing it. I want to explain everything in such a way that if they get to read the flier they will have their car detailed. I Use the Rotary and the G-100 and have practically everything in the Pro line Llike #3, #26, #66, #80, #81, #82, #83, #84, #85 and some consumer Like GC, NXT, DC among others. Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Note: I'm from the Philippines a Tropical Country.

    Thanks guys!

Re: Trying to come up with Fliers. Need Help?

I own a business and work in many different forms of advertising, so let me share my experience:

    Network; Network; Network; Network!
There is no better way to produce leads and gain business; period.

With that in mind, you will always want at least 4-5 reaching out methods (forms of advertising) to really break loose. Flyers work ok (depends on what type of flyers), along with decals on your car. Business cards are about as usefull as a book mark...you will need maybe 100. Give a few to every customer you finish a job on and tell them that whenever someone compliments their car, have them pass it on. Posting on Craigslist/backpage; putting flyers on your car when you are parked anywhere; wearing a t-shirt; wearing a button (AWSOME method)....

I got a million of them. Honestly though, while I would have those other methods out there, the #1 thing you can do is learn how to effectively network and ask for referals. Put ALL your focus on this. It isn't about who you know, it is about who you know, that knows someone, that can put you in a gold mine.

As for flyers; the less you say, the more you make. Period. End of discussion. DO NOT list prices. People do not care about the price; if they say it costs too much, what they are really saying to you is: "I do not see enough value in your product/service." Focus on value...and I better stop here or I will be typing for a long time and it is late!

Thanks for your inputs Wolf-Strong! I use to detail my relatives and friends car for free for a while and tell them to tell people that they know someone who details and they show off their shiny cars as a model car of the work I can do. But I still need a little more convincing I was thinking perhaps a flier could help. Thanks again!

No problem. Remember, a warm (relationship based) market is always going to be the easiest to work in, and the fastest.

If you want flyers, then do something REALLY simple. Show a GOOD before/after pic, no more than 6 words (Go from Beater, to Baller! lol?), and number. From here, you will get a lot of calls, not always quality though. Improve your ability to communicate over the phone and this way will definatly get you results.

I still can not stress the importance of Networking though. Even if you start out just doing basic washes, get yourself out there and known in a good network.

Re: Trying to come up with Fliers. Need Help?

I suggest downloading the 30 day trial of Adobe Indesign and search for some tutorials on how to make a flier. That is a great program and its what I used to make fliers for myself. Word of mouth is always the best advertising. I started posting info up on local car forums and it sky rocketed from there.

          Good Luck!
