I've got a '98 e320 to do. Theres trim over the weather stripping appears to be gold plated over stainless. It was on the car when he bought it. Its faded and I'm a bit worried about cleaning the trim. I was thinking of just leaving the trim pieces alone. What do you guys think?

You should probably call a Mercedes dealer to confirm...
Just a guess...anodized ???

Both local dealers said its not factory according to the VIN. I decided to just leave those pieces be, besides the wash of course."Between the possible and the impossible, lies what makes a man"Comment

Could it be gold plating/Brushplating not after market gold trim? the thing i know about that is it was hot in the late 80s-90s the process is called electroplating and you might find this sorta work under Brush/plating. There are systems you can buy but it would be alot cheaper to have it redone. GLComment
