  • Pads and compound Q's

What would be the best combo of pads and compound(s) to remove type II acid rain etch using a Porter Cable DAP--black paint, hood only, on a 2005, Ford F-150?

    Thanks.

    Re: Pads and compound Q's

There's no cut & dry answer to your question, but your best bet is to start with the least aggressive method and figure out what it will take to solve your problem. I'd start with #80 on an 8006 pad, give it a couple of passes and see if it makes a difference. If its making little or no difference, I'd move up to #83 on an 8006 pad (a different one, of course) and give it a go. If #83 still doesn't do the trick after a few passes, I assume it would be time to move up to a more powerful tool such as a rotary, which certainly isn't within my skill set. Hope this helps...
