    Hello all!

I have been approached by a number of dealerships that would like me to train and educate their staff on auto detailing. I have over 14 years in the business but I am unsure of what the current market value of this service may be.

    Any thoughts??

    Hi seandoleer

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Being asked to train employees by new car dealerships is a compliment to you skills and a testimony to your reputation.

    Congratulations!

As far as how much to charge, I'm going to guess in U.S. dollars a low of $300.00 for a half day to a high of $500.00.

If you worked from 8:00am to noon, that would be anywhere from $75.00 to $125.00 per hour. These are just estimates, if anything, I think the numbers should be higher considering a one-time investment into professional employee training on the part of the dealership will hopefully pay off rather quickly with better, faster professional quality results and satisfied happy customers.

We have a 1-day training workshop coming up on September 18th and the charge for this is $500.00

Do you have any kind of presentation you can offer? Such as a Power Point Presentation on the different topic you'll be teaching? Teaching concepts in a classroom setting and then following up with hands on training is very effective especially for a wide variety of people as not everyone learns in the same manner.

Just something to consider. Also some type of hand-out or notes that can reinforce what was taught that day so that employees can refer back to it in case they forget something.

While I'm sure you have a system that works for you, does your system one of products or multiple lines? Some dealerships may prefer to do one-stop shopping. Or, do the dealerships want you to teach their employees how to use the products they already use, just with more efficiency and better results. Again, just some things to consider.

      Thanks for the reply Mike!

I am a meguiars distributer along with the company I run. I do not have a presentation set up yet, but that is at the top of my to do list. I will be bringing my Meguiars line to them simply because I know the product and that it is always consistant. Plus, it will promote my product sales

I think the training will be fairly informal and not much class time. I prefer the hands on approach and and if at the end of the day if time permits there maybe class time to go over the days events.

Any further ideas you have are most welcome.

Mybe you can post the presentation on the board where everyone can have a look at it
It's a good advertisment for you and for Meguiar's for people who are living next to you neighborhood.

You may find more market value in offering ongoing training workshops, rather than a one-time presentation.

You may also want to learn more about the detailing product lines that the dealership is currently using. That way, you'll be better prepared to meet the needs of the dealership by focusing more attention on how to improve their detailing processes and procedures.

              Sweet deal.

Since you are a meg's distributer, I would take along some products to show the dealer and get them to use & buy them from you.
Products are only a good as the detailer using them.
