Hello all, I live in Northern California and have considered doing detailing on the side of my normal job, Correctional Deputy and then slowly migrate to full time status of detaling cars as I am sick of being in polyester and kevlar all day with 40lbs of **** around my waist.
I show off my work with my own cars as I have a '00 GMC Yukon with 105,000+ miles and it looks awesome (Gold paint) and my '05 Dodge Neon with that orange blast paint just flows like glass, people think I have a custom paint job (thanks to this forum I polished her up even better than I normally would have with other products)
My question after searching, are there any good links or information for insurance? I do not want to do someone else's rig and goof it up (haven't even come close on my own rigs and I love to detail) without insurance and have to cough up money for a paint job or whatever.
I already have some people asking me to do their cars (in November nonetheless) but hesitant in case I goof their car up.
I may have the oppurtunity to come across some funds (no not selling evidence
) and may attend some detailing schools I found online. Just not sure if I want to go mobile or have them bring car to my house (mobile involving generator, water, shade cover etc which is not a problem).
Of course my prototype business cards have "featuring Meguiars products" on them.
Thanks for your input and wish me luck. My wife is 100% behind me doing this, the day comes I hang up my badge and vest, will be a scary one indeed. Actually thought of talking to my Bro in law into a joint business, he is an ASE certified mechanic that specializes in suspension on motor homes as well as everything under the sun. He fixes cars, I make them look good.
I only hope to become as good as you guys. I do have the passion to make cars shine and people happy.
Awesome site, Mr. Phillips and y'all, I'll be sure to be asking you some questions in the near future if I need to and I'm sure I will, thankfully most of my questions have been answered, especially polishing aluminum, the forum with that aluminum fishing boat just looks awesome, imagine an Airstream going down the road looking like that eh? I think I can do it.
