I'm looking for ideas on marketing and advertising my new detailing business. It's mobile and I have a few clients now just looking for the best way and most cost effective way to market and advertise it.

Start with free classifieds in your area. ie: craigslist.com (select your city and post). You should also create a website, shouldn't cost you much at all... I think business cards are a good idea, always give your client a couple so he can pass them along.#21 - Synthetic Sealant For Sale!

Direct mailing gives your greatest rate of return (about 7-10%). In most large markets there are direct mail companies that mail out #10 envelopes of coupons and offers to certain areas of the market. Check out Valpak. I think they are one of them.
You should get the book, Guerilla Marketing. It full of ideas of ways to market your personal business. Always remember that readers are leaders.
