  • wax removal

    Hi,

    I would be very pleased if somebody could answer my query below regarding the removal of carnauba paste waxe.

    I attepmted to wax my car with wax recently.
    However, I made the following mistakes;
    1 over application of wax to whole car at one time as opposed to section by section
    2. external ambient temperature was dropping quickly as I started just before the sunset.
    3. car wings and doors dried out too fast.
    4. bonnet and roof would not dry as the night dew was falling

    In a panic, I washed the whole car soon after, in an effort to remove the thick film of hardened/unhardened wax.
    The car has now just got a thin stickey film of wax that collects rain etc.

    Can you please advise on how I should proceed with the safe and efficient removal of the wax.

    Car make / model / year / colour;
    VW / Golf / 2001 / black-gloss

    Regards,

    Shane

    You should be able to apply wa x to a whole car, the nstand back and let it finish drying. However, if it is getting cool and damp outside, this can really make it hard.

    In your case, it also sounds as if you may have applied the wax too thickly.

    As for fixing it, the best thing would probably just be starting over, giving it a wash, and then a paint cleaner like DC#1. Perhaps even some clay would be good.
