  • Any detailers offer PDR

I was looking into offering Paintless Dent Repair in my detailing service. So does anyone currently offer it, and maybe where you received your training?

I've researched and found plenty, so I'm not being lazy. It's that I trust most users on this board to steer me in the right direction, and warn me of any scams/problems they may have encountered with specific companies.

    Thanks, Magic

It really is quite an art...
The tools and training are rather pricey.
Altho we see 15-20 cars per week, we don't see many dents.

So, we have a technician on call. He specializes in it.

I pay him ~50 per panel, and bill 75.

      Same scenario for paintwork.

      Everybody's happy.
If it was easy, everybody'd be doing it!

You can buy the tools reasonably, depending on how many tools you have in your set. That is not the problem, the real issue is training.

It really takes a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks of 8 hour a day training for 5 to 6 days a week to learn the skill and begin making money.

You can get companies who will sell you a set of tools and a few days of training, but you will not be qualified to be a PDR tech in that short of time.

Let me use an analogy to set the record straight on PDR.

If you had an aptitude for music and you went to an instructor and worked for two weeks straight everyday to learn to play the piano, after two straight weeks, I am sure you could play the piano but could you come home and sell yourself as a member of a band or symphony? Could you get a job in a piano bar?

I think not unless you were a prodigy. You would have to practice daily to earn that right for months.

Same with PDR, in my opinion and the true professionals in the business.

PDR is not something for a small detail business to "add-on."

Things like Carpet Dyeing; Glass Repair; Pinstriping; Gold Plating are easy to learn, and inexpensive systems to buy that you could easily add to the business.

Weuse DentPro in Las Vegas, it looks like a very challenging trade, in some cases he has had to drill pilot hole to get to some dents and door dings, good luck if you go for it, if you find good training please post it I might be interested.
