  • New Detail Buisness in Ca.

I was wanting to start my own detail buisness here in California. I was just wondering if anyone out there could lend some pointers before I proceed.

I have a buisness plan already in place.

There is tons of info out, in regards to LLC vs Inc, which is a little confusing. So I just thought I'd put this out here, and get some advice. I'm going to see my accountant in the next couple of weeks, but he'll give me the info from the Accounting side, and I'm looking for any info from the detailers side.

Any special tax breaks, any certain fillings that you found along the way. Anything at all that would help!

    Thanks in advance,

    Magic (Jose Garza)

    Hey Magic,

What's your experience level with detailing? I know you're asking about the business itself, but often times people post here on MOL about wanting to start a business and then they ask about whether they should buy a PC or what products they will need, etc...

Just curious where you were in terms of skill level.

I've been detailing for over a year.

I'm a mobile detailer, but I really don't wash cars for a living. Washing is just part of the restoring process. I use a PC mainly since I haven't mastered the Rotary yet, but that will come with time. Actually I haven't come across soemthing the some #83 couldn't get out.

I wanted just to pick some brains, and see if anyone can think of something that makes them say "If I had to start over again, this is what I'd do different cause experience taught me this".

Excellent---so many people go into business without any plan. Does this include contingency plans if something goes wrong or if business doesn't work out as you'd hoped? Do you have a solid year's savings in the bank to support yourself on the days without income?

Another excellent idea. Will this accountant do your tax filings or are you going to do these yourself?

Are you going to have any employees, or are you going alone for now?

Are you prepared with liability insurance? This can be one of the most costly, yet most necessary annual investments in your business. Being non or under-insured can bury a person financially for life if something catastrophic should happen.

Best of luck...I know there are plenty of business owners and business minded people on the forum. Feel free to ask more questions or get into more details on the ones anyone may answer. It's the best thing one can do to get in fiscal shape for a new venture.
See the big picture, enjoy the details
