  • 2005 Frontier...Wash, Clay, #7 then NXT?

I have 11K on my Frontier and bi-weekly I have a 200 mile road trip through the paved but bug infested back roads to our project site. The front end is getting hammered with **** and I try to wash every week and polish and wax ever month or so.

I often skip a few weeks on the wash because it rains so dang much in Houston, I have to drive past construction sites constantly ect.

When I bought the truck (6/30) I used straight NXT, twice I believe.

Saturday, I washed it, clayed it, re-washed it before my daughters soccer games and then it rained. It was covered with **** just from the 5 mile drive so I washed it again this morning.

I used #7 and then NXT.

After a little searching, I see that a lot of people recommend a DC, either #1 or #2.

I don't have swirls yet, only a few bug marks that I am trying to remove.

Is #7 acceptable or should I use something else?

    Hey SV1000

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!!

Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze is a pure polish with no intended ingredients for cleaning the paint. I would suggest that you use DC #1 followed by your #7 and then NXT x2. The DC#1 is a mild cleaner that will help to clean the paint, and prepare it for the Last Step Product (LSP).

Please post some pictures when done!!

Thanks Tim, I will give DC #1 a shot.

Any other suggestions for black paint?

"DEFINITELY" get you some Gold Class Tar&Bug remover
        (http://www.meguiars.com/?car-mainten...---Tar-Remover)
I ordered me a power polisher because i have some scratches and swirls from using wrong towels, harsh removal of bugs. Save yourself the trouble and use the GC bug remover it is the best and I have tried many. I live south of you in Victoria and I know what you mean. Everymorning I have a bug salad on my truck But I noticed if I keep a good wax on it and wash it regularly, the bugs can sometimes come off with just a water hose, then a light application of GC tar&bug remover and WaLa!!
