  • Getting ready to detail the new car 1st time

    Subject: 2006 Lexus ES 330
    Color: Black Garnet
Washing Ritual: Every Saturday Morning GC Wash + Deep Pile Chenille Wash Mitt + Dry with Water Magnet + Finish with Supreme Shine MF

So here is the plan I have devised (based upon a ton of learnings from this great forum)

    1. Wash and Dry using ritual above.
    2. Clay - Meg Quick Clay
    3. DC #1 Cleaner
    4. DC #2 Polish

Here is where my first question arises: Would I benefit from using a Pure Polish after the DC #2 such as #7? So this could be a potential 5th step.

    6. NXT Wax 2 light coats

    Repeat every 4 weeks.

Any and all feedback is appreciated. Time and number of products are not an issue. I want the best results possible.

Additionally I will be doing this work with my PC7424.
Which megs pad would you recommend with each step (and potential step) listed above.

Since my first post I have loaded up on QD, Leather Cleaner, Leather Conditiner, grit guards, SS MF, Water Magnets, QD MF Pads.... code wheel brush.... all fabulous products!!

Thanks for your insight and feedback!!

Sounds pretty good.. but a few ideas

    1. Be sure to use the 2 bucket method ,with grit guards.

    2. Good.

3/4. Working with a PC, you may find #80 much more enjoyable. It is a cleaner polish, and will do much better than #1/2 on their own.

    5. If you want, you can use #7, or #81 after #80. Just to add, #2 and #7 are both pure polishes.

    6. Nxt liquid is great, but you may also enjoy #21 with the PC.

Thanks for the information. Yes I am currently using the 2 bucket system both with grit guards...

#80 it is then... thanks for the recommendation. I may try #7 and #81 after to look at the results.

I will get some #21 as well and give it a run.

Again thanks for the great info!!

Any feedback on pads recommeded for each step (Megs pads of course)

well, be sure to check the speed/pad setting thread.

I am not sure of speeds, but in general for pads:

Cleaners: (#80, #83) Use the #9007 polishing pad.
Wax: USe the #9008 Finishing pad.

Always have a separrate pad for each product.

Removing Products: If you remove by machine, you can use the #7006 Pad with a bonnet over it. DO NOT USE THIS PAD ON YOUR PAINT. ONLY WITH BONNET OVER IT TO REMOVE PRODUCTS.
