  • a new guy's NXT Generation™ Tech Wax review (UPDATE w/photos)

Last weekend, I posted photos after washing and waxing my black '05 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 4x4 with Meguiar's Cleaner-Wax.

    LINK

Today, I washed the truck again and hand applied a full coat of NXT Generation™ Tech Wax to every square inch of the truck, roof included.

The wax went on quite smoothly and easily with the foam applicator pad included in the box. After allowing about a half hour for the wax to fully dry, I set out to remove it.

I used clean terry cloth towels to remove the bulk of the wax and was initially disappointed by a pronounced streakiness, as if I'd not fully removed the residual wax from my black truck (perhaps I put too much on to begin with?). So I rubbed away with a fresh towel and really found the stuff difficult to get buffed off.

I then put a wool bonnet on my el-cheapo Craftsman 10" electric buffer and attacked. I must say, the wool bonnet did the trick.

The truck looked good before, but the NXT has taken it a step above and beyond my expectations. It is simply dazzling. Deep, shimmering, mirror-like in the sun, the Ram looks KILLER.

I finished the day up with an interior detail and dressing the tires with Meguairs Hot Shine Tire Coating. What a stunner this truck is!

All in all, I'd give Meguiar's NXT Generation™ Tech Wax two thumbs up. If it's as durable as you guys say it is, the work was well worth the effort. The only caveat is, this isn't a good product for the average weekend warrior who doesn't own a buffer for the final polish/buffing of the product.

    MOO, YMMV

Thin coats are definately needed with the Nxt wax.

Glad to hear you're happy with the results...

And it could be that in your particular situation the wax was difficult to remove for who knows what reason? In most cases however, if you apply a thin coating to a properly prepared finish, Tech Wax will wipe off easy.

Because from time to time we read comments about waxes being hard to remove, one of the things I do at almost every Saturday Detailing Class is to ask one of the attendees to show everyone how easy a thin coat of wax is to remove. In this case it's a thin coat of NXT Tech Wax Paste.

Try your best to apply a thin coating, this requires that you focus on the task at hand, but with practice you can lay down a thin coat with excellent penetration and coverage.
