    Hi everyone,

I was reading the forum for a couple of weeks now and it was very informative but i still have some questions.

I have a silver suv and there are some minor scratches on it, i tried scratchX and it did improve them but they are still visible. Should i try the medallion cleaner (or something more agressive) or just save for the dual action polisher? I was using obrital buffer before.

Another question is how do you guyes tackle stone chips?

    Last one
A friend of mine recently bought a car and it turned out that it was hit repainted and there is no clear coat on it. There are some scratches on the hood, i slightly improved them with scratchX but they are still highly visible, then i called meguiars and the guy from customer service suggested the medallion paint cleaner and dual action cleaner polisher. My question is it safe without the clear coat and is the orbital buffer going to help or we should chip in for the PC .

    Hi Alex,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

If ScratchX didn't remove the scratches by hand, then you best bet is to invest in a Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher.

The orbital polisher is just not effective at removing scratches in paint. I posted some information about his here,

    newbie, please help! please

Please don't think the PC is the end all, be all to scratches, it is limited in how deep of a scratch it can remove. If the PC cannot remove the scratch it could be to deep to safely remove, or it may require a rotary buffer and a more aggressive product.

Look at the method Jamie used to remove the scratch in this side mirror on a Ferrari,

    Ferrari Detail Day at Meguiar’s!

If and when you purchase a PC, remember, the ScratchX is for hand application only, you will want to use a paint cleaner formulated for use by machine to go after the scratches in your car's finish with the PC. This would include,

    #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish

    Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner

Clear Coat Body Scrub Paint Cleaner

Then after removing the scratches, you will want to apply a pure polish such as Deep Crystal Step-2 Polish and then apply a coating of wax.

    Hope this helps...
